Tips for a Banner That Still Looks Right After Discord Crops It
- Keep the subject in the middle. Your avatar sits over the bottom left corner of a profile banner, and the mobile app can frame the image differently from desktop, so anything near the edges can disappear.
- Export at twice the minimum. Discord compresses uploads, so a 1200 x 480 profile banner or a 1920 x 1080 server banner survives better than the bare minimum.
- Skip logos and text in a server banner. Discord puts the server name over it.
Discord Server Banner Size
The Discord server banner size is 960 x 540 pixels in a 16:9 aspect ratio, and it only unlocks once the server reaches Boost Level 2. It shows at the top of the channel list, behind the server name. Choose the 16:9 ratio above to crop it, then download 960 x 540 or 1920 x 1080.
How to Change Your Discord Banner

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Does My Banner Look Cut Off on Mobile?
The mobile app can frame the same image differently from desktop. Keep the important part centered and leave the top and bottom edges empty.
Do I Need Nitro for a Discord Banner?
For a profile banner, yes. For a server banner you do not need Nitro, but the server needs Boost Level 2.
Should My Discord PFP and Banner Match?
They do not have to, but they sit next to each other on your profile. If you are updating both, crop the avatar on the Discord PFP size page so it is a sharp 512 x 512 square.
What Happens If My Image Is Smaller Than 600 x 240?
It may look blurry because it has to be enlarged. Pick a larger photo and crop a wider area.
